Hainan Pavilion at Shanghai Expo
Hainan Pavilion of Shanghai Expo concentrates the Hainan Province and has been greatly appreciated by a large number of Chinese and overseas visitors. Since its formal opening on May 1, Hainan Pavilion has received more than 4,000,000 visitors. A batch of Chinese and overseas honored guests also came to visit this pavilion. The news was learnt by the correspondent during today’s press conference of Hainan Week of Shanghai Expo.
Since the opening of 2010 Shanghai Expo, the Hainan Pavilion located in the provincial, city and regional joint exhibition area within China Pavilion has received great concern and appreciation from Chinese and overseas visitors. For over three months, the Hainan Pavilion has created a Hainan epitome of “sunshine, leisure, vocation, livability, longevity, sweetness, safety and harmony” and vividly illustrated the unique understanding of Hainan people to beautiful life through its graceful appearance built with blue silk thread screen, 360° panoramic island life images played by large U-screen, precious real objects of fine sand, shells, Huanghuali wood specially shipped from Hainan and intangible cultural heritage demonstration of traditional Li brocade production techniques, making visitors feel reluctant to leave and longing.
According to rough estimates, the daily visitors to Hainan Pavilion are about 40,000; while during holidays, the number of visitors is generally about 50,000. It has become one of pavilions receiving more visitors and higher degree of attention in provincial, city and regional joint exhibition area.
Michelle, the President of Republic of Seychelles, Seng Han Thong, Member of Parliament of Singapore, Brian Goldbeck, Consul General of U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, Ido Toshizo, Hyogo County Head from Japan, Loscertales, the Sectary-General of International Bureau of Exhibitions, Wang Jinzhen, China Chief Representative of International Bureau of Exhibitions, etc. have made special trips to Hainan Pavilion and highly praised Hainan and this pavilion.
Loscertales, the Sectary-General of International Bureau of Exhibitions, highly praised the Hainan Pavilion that it “displays a beautiful island”. Pak Yin Yu, the Curator of Republic of Korea Pavilion, left a message which said that “Hainan Pavilion is very spectacular”; Michelle, the President of Republic of Seychelles, considered that this pavilion greatly interpreted the concept of “development and natural harmony” of Hainan Province; Seng Han Thong, Member of Parliament of Singapore, wrote “beautiful distant Hainan, wonderful Hainan customs and terrific island sentiment” on the guestbook of Hainan Pavilion; Brian Goldbeck, Consul General of U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, commended that Hainan was as beautiful as Hawaii; Wang Jinzhen, China Chief Representative of International Bureau of Exhibitions, described Hainan with “nice environment and fair life”.
During the Hainan Week, Hainan Pavilion will increase new activities to welcome visitors, including lucky draws for tourists, increasing Hainan ceramics exhibitions, providing tropical melons and fruits, etc.. Li brocade, Hainan ceramics and Huanghuali wood, which are considered as Hainan Three Treasures by collectors will be presented.
