To decode the secret of longevity, join Sanya Nanshan Festival
The annual Nanshan Longevity Culture Festival is set to kick off at the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone in Sanya from October 26th to 28th, 2017.
A number of events have been scheduled for the festival, including an Award Ceremony for Hainan Province's Top Ten Elders (which will include a "God of Longevity" award for one of Hainan Province's Top Ten Elders), the Nanshan Longevity Feast, a seminar on senior citizen culture, and a photo exhibition of centenarians.
On opening ceremony day, senior visitors will be invited to the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone to attend a blessing ceremony for a happy and long life.
Hainan has the largest population of citizens over 100 years old in China. As of July 2016, the number of centenarians in Hainan was 2,083. The most long-lived person on the island is 116. According to the latest statistics, 9.73 people in 100,000 in Sanya are over 100 years of age.
The Nanshan Longevity Cultural Festival has been held every year since 1999 on the ninth day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar. The day is a time for praying to the God of Longevity and celebrating those who have lived to a ripe old age.
