2013 Hainan Qixian Hot-spring Water Festival to kick off in Baoting
The 2013 Baoting Qixian Hot-spring Water Festival is to be held from August 12th to 14th at Qixian Square and Yanoda scenic spot in Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County, Hainan.
With a theme of “Meet on Chinese Valentine’s Day, Enjoy a Romantic Water Fun Day in Baoting”, the festival will feature Li & Miao dance and folk songs, a traditional music competition, Li music concert, dragon boat race, Li & Miao food and traditional technique exhibition and the water carnival.
The Water Festival, which was started in 2000, is the most important festival for Li and Miao people who throw water on each other for good luck during the festival.
With a combination of various tourism resources including rainforests, folklore customs and hot-springs, the Water Festival has become an important stage for promoting the culture of Li and Miao ethnic minority groups and an important measure to increase Baoting's tourism cultural reputation.
