According to relevant departments, Sanya, one of the branch venues of the Hainan Joy Festival, will host the 4th Sanya Food Carnival from December 25th, 2012 to January 1st, 2013 for 8 days. This will coincide with the New Year's holiday, which will draw attention to Hainans unique culture and delicious food.
 
At the carnival, more than 100 stands and 200 different foods will be provided, while they also continue to promote Sanyas top ten dishes and delicious specialties. Theyll also showcase various products and the fascinating culture of Sanya and other areas of Hainan in order to enrich Sanyas tourism industry.
 
The opening ceremony will start at 17:00 on December 25th in Dadonghai Square, and will include colorful coconut themed activities, such as attempting a new record for "One Thousand People Drinking Coconut Juice’, and setting up the coconut wishing tree, blessing Sanya, and collecting best wishes for the New Year.
 
The whole event will be divided into five themed sections.
 
1. Sanya International Food Gathering

Activities: A display of Sanyas Top Ten Dishes, Hainans local food, Taiwanese cuisine, Hong Kong and Macao and international cuisines.
 
2. Gala Evening Party

Venue: Dadonghai Square
 
Activities: a variety of events with a Christmas theme, Hainan Li and Miao cultural activities, a DJ set, a Hainan local music concert and New Years Party.
 
3. Top Ten International Food Week
 
Date: December 25th,2012 to January 1st, 2013
Venue: Haitang Bay ,Yalong Bay ,Sanya Bay and Dadonghai
Top Ten International Foods of Italy, Portugal, Russia, Thailand, France, Germany, Thailand and etc,.

4. 1st Sanya Innovation Cooking Contest 
 
Date: November 10th, 2012 to January 1st, 2013
Venue: Dadonghai Square
 
5. Prize-giving Ceremony
 
Date: December 25th, 2012 to January 1st, 2013
Venue: Dadonghai Square and other event sites
Prize-giving for tourist and food awards will be held every day during the carnival in Dadonghai Square. Prizes include vouchers for resorts and for food, tickets to scenic spots, local souvenirs and consumer vouchers for SPA and hot springs.
