2011 Mission Hills Golfathon to extend to New Mission Hills Hainan Resort
Mission Hills Group — impetus for China's golf boom and owner and operator of the world's two largest golf properties — announces the 2011 Mission Hills Golfathon will extend to its new tropical resort, Mission Hills Hainan.
From April 1 to September 30, competitors are invited to play 10 rounds of golf (one on each course at the resort) for approximately $900 (RMB 5,800). This includes greens, cart, caddie and locker fees. Golfers under 12 years of age may enter for $380 (RMB 2,500).
Participants in men's, women's, senior and junior divisions will compete for 100 berths in October's Mission Hills Golfathon Finals. The Grand Champion will receive a seven-night holiday for two at Italy's Palazzo Arzaga Spa Resort, with unlimited rounds of golf, luxury room accommodations and romantic candlelight dinners for two. He or she will also earn a spot in the 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup Pro-Am.
Winners and first runners-up in each division will receive Mission Hills Hainan holiday packages valued at nearly $2,000 (RMB 12,300) and $1,350 (RMB 8,708), respectively.
Competitors who register before April 30 will receive a complimentary round of golf and one night's stay (deluxe room) at Mission Hills Hainan. A four-night stay in a deluxe room and nearly $50 in dining vouchers can be purchased for an additional $550 (RMB 3,380).
"Today is a significant day for the Mission Hills Golfathon, as it steps out of Shenzhen after seven years and now extends to beautiful Hainan Island," says Tenniel Chu, Executive Director of Mission Hills.
"This will take the Golfathon to new heights and allow it to touch more golf enthusiasts from different regions. Competitors will enjoy 10 outstanding courses and our fabulous facilities, making it a unique golf tournament and vacation."
Once again, the coveted "Ironman Award" will be bestowed to golfers playing 10 rounds within five days. In addition to a certificate memorializing the achievement, they will receive a voucher for a complimentary weekday round of golf. In 2008, Japanese player Natori Naohisa set the speed record, taking 35 hours and 37 minutes to finish his rounds.
Official sponsors of the Mission Hills Golfathon include BOSS eyewear and Prince Watches & Jewelry. Audi is sponsoring the hole-in-one prize, while ECCO, Lenovo, Sony, Meashine and Acqua di Parma are other supporters.
The Mission Hills Golfathon was launched in 2004 to celebrate Mission Hills' recognition as the world's largest golf facility in the Guinness World Records. For more information, please call (86 898) 6868 3888 x 62806; (86 755) 2802 0888 x 36905 or 36906; or visit www.mhgolfathon.com.
