Hainan Sanyuesan Festival to kick off in Sanya April 2-3, 2011
In 2011, in order to better develop and promote the Sanyuesan Festival, also known as March Third Festival, Sanya is selected as the main host city to celebrate the festival and several big events will be kicked off from 2nd to 3rd April in Sanya Bay, Sanya.
The Sanyuesan Festival is the largest traditional festival of the Li and Miao minorities in Hainan Province which takes place on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month of the year. It is also a special day for boys and girls to express their love through singing and dancing competition. Therefore, the festival is also viewed as "Valentines’ Day" by Li and Miao minorities.
