As part of the 2012 Cultural Heritage Day celebrated in Hainan, the Salon d’Automne Exhibition in China kicked off in Haikou, giving the capital’s art scene a strong boost in the year 2012.

Organized by the Oriental Culture Art Academy and the Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publications and Sports of Hainan Province, this is the 1st time that the Salon D’Automne exhibition has put on an exhibition in Hainan.

The exhibition has collected 210 renowned and promising art pieces from all over the world. To introduce more local individual artists to the high-end art market, a series of selected works by local promising artists are also included in this year’s expo.

The first Salon d’Automne exhibition was held in 1903, organized by a group of artists including Bonnard, Matisse, Marquet and Rouault as a reaction to the conservative official salon at the time. Lately, it has become an event that introduces society to the development of modern paintings, sculptures and other artforms.
