A batch of precious old pictures of Hainan Island, taken by two American explorers and adventurers, Leonard Clark and Nicol Smith, will make their appearance from June 9th to 17th at Hainan Museum.

As enthusiast explorers, Leonard and Nicol spent two months traveling through ten cities and hired locals as guides to explore the life and cultures of ethnic minority groups when they first came to Hainan in 1937.

Photo of  Qilou Old Street, one of the famous sections of Haikou, was taken in 1937.

They have collected more 110 precious old photos. Among them, visitors can see some fantastic old photos displaying some of the famous sections of Haikou including the Qilou Old Street.

As one of the top ten exhibitions held at the Hainan Museum, the photo exhibition will be a visual treat for anyone who wishes to reconnect with the soul of the old island of Hainan.
