Hainan vice-governor Jiang Sixian visits Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines
At the invitation of Mah Bow Tan, Minister of Ministry of National Development of Singapore, Hou Kok Chung, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Ministry of Malaysia, and Gwendolyn F. Garcia, Governor of Cebu Province, Philippines, Jiang Sixian, Deputy Governor of Hainan Province, led a delegation to visit the above three countries and returned to Hainan on July 9.
Jiang Sixian was present on invitation at the 2010 World City Summit and World Mayor Forum held in Singapore, exchanging ideas with delegates on issues about how to cope with different challenges in post-crisis times and promote the social economic development by urbanization. In addition, he delivered a speech with the topic of International Tourism Destination – the Urbanization Road of Hainan Province.
During the visit to Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines, Jiang Sixian, as director of Boao Forum for Asia, respectively made an official call to Goh Chok Tong, Singapore Senior Minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, former Premier of Malaysia, and Fidel Ramos, Former President of the Philippines, discussing the issue of promoting the communication and cooperation between Hainan Province and the above mentioned three countries through the platform of Asia Forum. Moreover, in order to push the substantial cooperation between Hainan Province and the aforementioned three countries in emerging industry, port transportation, trade, tourism, education and city planning, the delegation also called on Mah Bow Tan, Minister of Ministry of National Development of Singapore, Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State Trade and Industry Ministry, Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Minister of State Social Development, Youth and Sports Ministry, Teo Siong Seng, President of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Hon. Dato' Seri Kong Cho Ha, Minister of Ministry of Transport, Malaysia, Hou Kok Chung, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Ministry of Malaysia, and Gwendolyn F. Garcia, Governor of Cebu Province, Philippines, and relevant enterprise principals.
The delegation also paid official visit to Haruhiko Kuroda, the President of Asian Development Bank and C. Lawrence Greenwood, Jr, the Vice-Preside of Asian Development Bank to exchange ideas with them on issues concerning the Asian Development Bank’s involvement in the development and construction of planning, environment protection and new energy in Hainan Province. Jiang Sixian also visited the overseas fellows and part of leaders of oversea Chinese from Hainan Province in Singapore and Malaysia.
The visit of the delegation received considerable assistance from embassies and consulates in Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines and was a complete success.
