Sanya has announced plans to build four tramlines in the near future, according to sources within the municipal tram construction authority.
Line T1 will start from the Sanya Phoenix Airport, passing through Jichang Road, Haihong Road, Sanya Bay Road, Jinjiling Road, Shengli Road, and ending on Jiangang Road.
Line T2 will run from Haiyue Square and end at Jiyang Town, with stops at Shengli Road, Yinbing Road and National Highway 223.
Line T3 will start from Haipo District and run to Tianyahaijiao, linking with Haipo District, Xincheng Road and National Highway 225.
Line T4 will stretch from the Sanya Railway Station to the Hongsha Area, passing through Yuxiu Road, Hairun Road, Fenghuang Road and Yuya Road.
Lines T1 and T4 will serve as the system’s backbone, acting as sightseeing outlets for tourists and providing urban living services and transportation distribution.
The trams are rail vehicles powered by electricity and running on tracks along public streets. The four lines will cover a total of 60 kilometers. In Sanya, the tramlines will be used to supplement the existing public transportation network.
