People struggling to find a taxi in Sanya now have another option — renting an electric car. Recently, plans for an electric car rental program have been approved by the local government.

According to the plan, a total of 500 electric cars will be available for use. Among them, 450 electric cars will be in service at the Sanya Phoenix Airport, the railway station, the Haitang Bay Duty-free Shopping Complex, and major scenic spots and hotel clusters in Haitang Bay, Yalong Bay, and Luhuitou Peninsula. The other 50 electronic cars will be in service at governmental institutions and Sanya Creativity Industry Park.

According to the plan, 36 rental service stations and recharging services will be set up across the city.

The new program will help to meet the growing demand for automobiles and perhaps relieve increasing traffic pressure in the city.
