Sanya starts taxi flag-down fare rise
Taxi rides in Sanya will now cost more, as the government approved a taxi fare adjustment on September 28th, 2015.
Under the new fare pricing system, the starting price of first category taxi rides has been raised from 8 yuan for the first 2 km to 11 yuan for the first 2.5 km. Each additional kilometer costs an additional 2.4 yuan.
The base fee of second category taxi rides has been increased from 8 yuan for the first 2 km to 10 yuan for the first 2.5 km, and each additional kilometer will cost an additional 2.2 yuan.
First category taxis refers to cars with motors above 1.8 liters with purchase prices between 100,000 yuan and 150,000 yuan. Second category taxis refers to cars with motors below 1.6 liters with purchase prices below 100,000 yuan.
For return-empty rides, a one-way taxi ride will surcharge passengers 50 percent of the post-10 km driving distance fare. During taxi operation between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., taxi drivers will surcharge passengers 20 percent of the total fare of the whole journey.
Additionally, when the car’s speed is below 12 km/h, the charge for the first five minutes is free and passengers are surcharged 20 percent of the post-2.5km journey fare every minute after five minutes.
