According to Sanya officials, the Sanya Sanatorium for Tibetan Cadres is expected to complete construction by the end of this year.

As present, the project has completed about 70 percent to 80 percent of its exterior construction, and 40 percent to 50 percent of its interior construction.

On August 31, Zhang Qi, a member of the Provincial Standing Committee of Hainan and Secretary of the Sanya Municipal Committee, conducted a field survey at the sanatorium.

He pointed out that related local departments should cooperate to finish the project and guarantee the construction safety. The sanatorium provides employment opportunities for Tibetan workers in Sanya.

During the preparatory period, the Hainan Provincial Government and the Sanya Municipal Government have given significant support to this program, which is expected to serve as an economic and cultural exchange platform for the two regions, showcasing Tibet’s development after reform and opening up and Tibetan culture.

The Sanya Sanatorium for Tibetan Cadres is located near Fengxiang Road, occupying a total area of 40 hectares. Decorated in a Tibetan-European style, the sanatorium has nearly 400 guest rooms with a large banquet hall and parking lot. It is a complex for tourism, leisure, and rehabilitation. Upon its completion, the sanatorium will receive cadres from Tibet, and also open to the public for business.

Accordingly, a quality tourism route linking Sanya and Tibet is planning to be launched in the near future, to push tourism development exchange between the “tropical paradise” and the “snowy plateau.”
