Sanya to have Chinese brand of cruise liners
Sanya will build a Chinese brand of luxury cruise liners through the cooperation with two state-owned enterprises.
The initial success with the operation of Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal is lifting Sanya’s tourism profile and contributing to the local economy. Nowadays, the world’s top cruise liner companies have developed routes to Sanya, making it one of the top three cruise ports nationwide.
In order to be the leader and boost the growth of the cruise service industry, the local government has sign a cooperation agreement with China Communications Construction Group (CCCG) and China National Travel Service (HK) Group Corporation to establish a joint venture to build their own brand of cruise passenger liners.
The cruise liners purchase planning is under way, which will include a 30,000-tonnage cruise ship and a 50,000-tonnage cruise ship. The cruise route service will connect Xisha Islands and overseas destinations like Hong Kong and Southeastern Asian regions.
Focused on cruise service, the cooperation also extends to hotel operations, duty-free trade, and cultural entertainment, among other businesses.
