Sanya signs agreement with CCCC & CTS to further boost cruise tourism
On August 21st, the Sanya Government signed an agreement with China Communications Construction Company Ltd and China Travel Service (holdings) Hong Kong Co. Ltd to cooperate on developing cruise tourism as one part of its initiatives to develop the city as an attractive cruise travel and leisure hub to diversify Sanya’s economy.
Under the background that the global cruise industry is moving increasingly, the partnership will make full use of the policy advantage — the “One Belt, One Road" initiative and regional tourism resources, thereby leveraging the collective strengths of state-owned enterprises and private companies to make Sanya an attractive cruise destination, integrating shopping, leisure and tourism in China.
The cooperation includes upgrading the Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal as a cruise economic zone, opening a new cruise route to Xisha Islands and developing a multi-stop cruise service to connect overseas destinations like Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Cruise tourism has seen soaring demands for China’s leisure industry. As an international tourist city, Sanya has exceptional resources to develop the cruise tourism industry. Cruise tourism has gradually become a major feature and new growth engine of Sanya tourism.
