4,528 rooms of unlicensed B&B shut down in Sanya tourism market crackdown
According to Sanya Tourism Development Commission, the city responded to 55 tourism cases and has shut down 4,528 rooms of illegal B&B inns that were operating without a license from last November to the first half of 2015.
The past two years has seen Sanya put great efforts in solving tourism-related issues which include unfair low prices, illegal one-day tours, and also mainly focusing on the most complained about problems such as illegal business operations, price gouging, forced consumption etc,.
It was learned that many tourism market related problems emerged as the E-commerce tourism business in Sanya took off. The local tourism department has joined forces with police and the administrations for industry and commerce to issue regulations within a collaborative governance system.
Nearly 10 tourism website officials have been investigated as a total of 4,528 rooms of B&B inns shut down during the crackdown. Tourism products were pulled off from the websites at the same time.
In order to improve security and administration, the city will launch regulations on tourist shopping places and tropical fruit markets, followed by the issue of restrictions on the tourism market, illegal advertisements, tour vehicles and one-day tour activities.
