The road section between Haitang Bay and Yalong Bay will be expanded from the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane highway that is 14.359 kilometers in length and 42 meters in width.

The Haitang Bay to Yalong Bay section of China National Highway 223 (G223) will be expanded to ease the mounting traffic pressure in the northeast part of Sanya, according to the Jiyang District Government.

China National Highway 223 runs from Haikou to Sanya. It is 323 kilometres in length. Due to the completion of East Hainan Ring Highway, the G233 has been transformed from an arterial highway to an alternative road linking the main road network with the towns, development areas, and scenic spots along the line.

The road section between Haitang Bay and Yalong Bay will be expanded from the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane highway that is 14.359 kilometers in length and 42 meters in width.

After completion, this road will be a major urban arterial road in Sanya. It is expected to accelerate the urbanization of Haitang Bay and Sanya Bay and be an impetus to the economic development in the northeast part of Sanya.
