Tianyahaijiao Scenic Spot sets up 158 benevolence stalls for Hui vendors
Tianyahaijiao Scenic Spot in Sanya has spent a million yuan to build some 158 benevolence stalls for the ethnic Hui vendors at the site.
The construction of the new stalls not only offers the local Hui villagers job opportunities, but also improves the scenic spot’s image and provides a better shopping environment for visitors from home and overseas.
The 158 benevolence stalls covers an area of about 700 square meters, and is divided into two zones – souvenir zone and food zone. Here each type of the goods on offer is clearly marked with a price tag to prevent cheating on price. Currently, 246 economically disadvantaged vendors are allowed to operate in the area.
The initiative has generated overwhelming support from tourists and the local government. As the city quickened its pace in expanding the tourism industry, the Tianyahaijiao Scenic Spot has been constantly improved.
The scenic spot not only upgrades the services and the scenic supporting equipment and infrastructure for a better tourism environment, but also helps to protect the interests of locals. The initiative promises to attract more tourists and addresses the urgent need to support the public welfare.
In December 2014, the scenic spot established a public welfare fund and arranged a variety of donation activities to help needy communities.
