Hainan’s longest tunnel expected to open at end of 2015
Sanya Hongsha Tunnel
The Sanya Hongsha Tunnel, which is said to be the longest in Hainan, is expected to open for traffic at the end of this year, and is expected to cut the driving time from Hongsha Area to downtown center, from 15-20 minutes to 8-10 minutes.
The project is a major urban infrastructural project in Sanya with a total investment of 470 million yuan.
The Hongsha Tunnel road project, stretches from the Linchun Community in Jiyang District, to the Phoenix Hill Park, and and its end connects with Yuya Avenue. The road, tunnel and approach have a total length of 2,438 meters, 1,800 meters and 638 meters, respectively.
After its completion, the project will effectively ease the traffic pressure of the existing roads of Dadonghai linking Hongsha to the main urban area and perfecting the regional road network.
