Sanya’s two major public squares, Dadonghai Square and Luhuitou Square will soon get an all-round facelift to become more high-end urban squares.

The plan on the renovation of the two public squares has been completed. The project will be led by Thomas Leonard, President of the well-known American urban design and planning company UI, which has also participated in the planning of the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone.

According to Mr. Leonard, the two squares will soon begin to perform well, by integrating resources from the surrounding commercial locations.

 Dadonghai Square

The Dadonghai Square will be upgraded into a more leisurely environment, with interactive activities combined with sculpture and landscape corridors to enrich the environment for local residents and tourists.

 Luhuitou Square

The new Luhuitou Square will have many new features including underground parking lots, a waterside stage, a Sanya studio, extensive dining options, and entertainment outlets. These features will reflect Sanya’s unique ethnic qualities.

The renovation work on Dadonghai Square and Luhuitou Square will start this year and is set to be completed in 2016.
