Yazhou Ancient City
The 2015 ‘Discovery of Sanya’s beautiful Yazhou’ architecture photography contest is to be launched at the end of this month, according to the Sanya Yazhou District authority.
In Yazhou District, Yacheng is a quite popular tourist destination and has been named as the "Famous Historical and Cultural Town of China". It is the southernmost township in ancient China, noted for its profound cultural background. Many well preserved residential houses were built in 1910s or 1920s, such as the Confucius Temple.
As described in historical records, Yazhou Ancient City was built in the Song Dynasty and developed into a strong city with adobe walls after expansion from the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.
The organizers are encouraging the participants to capture the uniqueness of Yazhou through their camera lenses with different approaches to show the historical architecture and culture of this ancient town and help more domestic and international tourists enhance their awareness of historical architecture protection.
The contest will be held from August 1st to September 10th, 2015. The organizing committee will announce the winning photographs on September 29th. Altogether 36 photos will be rewarded with a total prize of 53,000 yuan.
