Cargo throughput of Sanya Port hits record high in first half of this year

The port of Sanya achieved total cargo throughput of 997,000 tons in the first six months of 2015, an increase of 30.9 percent year-on-year and a record high, according to statistics provided by the Sanya Port Administrative Bureau on Monday.

The port plans to achieve cargo throughput tonnage of 1.6 million tons this year. Imports of containerized steel, concrete coal and other construction materials are rapidly increasing.

Investors have been pouring into Hainan after construction of the “Hainan International Tourism Island” became part of the national strategy, with large-scale projects spreading rapidly across the island.

Sanya Port and Nanshan Port are the major cargo ports in Sanya, serving southern Hainan and advancing Hainan’s trade development with Southeast Asian countries.
