Since food safety issues have been topping the agenda, Sanya launched a digital system to promote food safety and hygiene in the catering sector at the city’s Catering Model Street, Yalong Bay La Floret Plaza.

Currently, 18 restaurants in the Yalong Bay La Floret Plaza have already opened their kitchens to the public by installing a 2-meter-high electronic screen at its entrance and having it easily visible to all the consumers to get to know the basics of the restaurant and how to order meals.

Residents and tourists applaud the transparency, believing its positive influence will rebuild mutual trust. "We don’t know what they have or do in the kitchen. It’s much more comforting if we can see for ourselves."

Diners can also leave comments on the food safety conditions and catering services as a grading system was introduced to encourage the owners of enterprises to improve their quality of service.

This measure will be widely promoted at the 150 restaurants across the city in the near future.
