On June 16th, the inaugural direct flight from Singapore to Sanya landed at Sanya Phoenix International Airport, carrying 159 passengers.


The flight took off from Singapore airport at 7 a.m. and arrived in Sanya at 10 a.m.

The opening of the direct flight was a major project for the Sanya government as well as for Silk Air of Singapore. Tourism authorities hoped that the new route would draw stronger economic and cultural ties between the two regions.

The direct flight, operated with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, will leave Sanya for Singapore every Tuesday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, the new route will make it more convenient for Sanya to expand its international tourist markets.
