Sanya feted the Tenth Cultural Heritage Day on Saturday with a string of cultural activities at Shengli Square.

Thirty-five artists certified as "Sanya intangible cultural heritage" practitioners gathered on the Square to demonstrate their techniques. The show involved activities such as Li pottery, Li brocade, dyeing and embroidery.

Sanya has two official "intangible cultural heritage" art forms — the Li people’s firewood-gathering dance and the Yazhou folk song.

Additions to the provincial list include the traditional pottery production of the Li people, the Sanyuan dance of the Miao people, and the dance and folk music, traditional weaving, dyeing, and embroidery of the Li minority people.

The Li minority’s skill of making fire from drilling wood is the only item on the municipal-level list.
