Sanya further expanding promotions for overseas tourist markets in 2015
Sanya is striving to promote itself as a tourist destination in major foreign tourist source countries such as Japan, South Korea, United Kingdom and Germany, to enlarge its overseas tourism market.
Despite the rise in domestic tourist arrivals, Sanya has encountered a setback as fewer foreigners have been visiting. In the first 4 months of this year, Sanya received 5.26 million overnight-stay tourists, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%, while the number of foreign visitors dropped by 27.7% year-on-year, to 105,600.
Russia has always been the largest tourist source market of Sanya. Since April, Eastern Airlines has launched a Sanya-Moscow direct flight route in order to meet the demands of a large number of Russian tourists seeking to visit Sanya.
Meanwhile, the opening of facilitated Seoul-Sanya chartered flights introduced this May have led to a delightful increase in tourists from Korea, bringing more than 4,000 South Korean tourists to the tropical destination.
In addition, the Sanya-Singapore chartered flight is expected to open in mid-June this year.
