Recently, hundreds of volunteers from the Blue Ribbon Ocean Conservation Association participated in the Sanya River Protection Campaign to ensure a pure river for tourists.

Known as the Mother River of Sanya, Sanya River flows through the center of the city. However, due to the city’s rapid economic development, the waste and sewage from nearby hotels and residential buildings and garbage from the upper reaches of the river have affected the water quality and the overall river environment.

The activity was set up to let more people know environmental protection lies in actions, not slogans. The activity aims to call for more citizens to join in the public welfare works, contributing to the environmental protection and ecological environment construction.

“Sanya is a nice place for jogging, sightseeing and relaxing. The city’s government and residents have long been concerned about its water quality and landscapes,” one expert said. He suggested that a comprehensive project is urgently required to establish sewage management at the various polluted sections of Sanya River.
