Sanya is to introduce laws and regulations to protect Egret Park in the city’s current drive for uniting environmental protection and urban construction.

Egret Park, situated by Lingchun River, covers around 26.7 hectares. It has been one of the main places in the city for leisure activities for local residents and tourists since it opened to the public in 2002.

However, as Sanya undergoes its transformation into an international tourism city, the excessive tourism has also been causing environmental problems for Egret Park. Some tourists have failed to show respect for the beautiful place with their improper tourist practices, causing the lawn and trees there to be damaged and abused.

Egret Park is one of the most pristine and relaxing places you will find within the city, offering a wide array of plant and bird life for anyone looking for a quiet midday oasis. The local government is currently mulling over a regional regulation for better management of Egret Park in an effort to provide stronger protection for Sanya’s urban ecological resources.
