Sanya recently rolled out a plan on urban environmental remediation across the city, aiming to build itself into a national ecological city.

According to the plan, buildings on some road sections, including Jiefang Road and Sanya Bay, will get an all-round facelift to fit into the tropical landscape of Sanya.

The reconstruction will last 2 years and the plan is currently a key program of Sanya’s urban construction.

The government has mapped out effective mangrove conservation policies to help prevent negative consequences from human activities. A total of 655 acres of mangrove forestation will be planted by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, the government will speed up the renovation of Egret Park in the second half of this year, which involves ecological restoration, landscape and pavement improvements, and the construction of accompanying service facilities.

Besides, wastewater separation infrastructure, waterfront protection in major bays and a road greenbelt renovation project will be included in the plan.
