Sanya warns of safety risks after recent drowning accidents in Dadonghai
With the summer swimming season just around the corner, swimmers are being warned of the risks posed by strong currents after the recent drowning accidents which have occurred at Dadonghai Beach.
Statistics from the Sanya Maritime Search and Rescue Center show Dadonghai, Sanya Bay, Yalong Bay and Haitang Bay are the four most dangerous waters in Sanya, especially Dadonghai. This is because swimmers can easily be pulled out to sea by the strong currents created by the swirl flows in these sea areas.
A large number of citizens and tourists go swimming daily at Dadonghai. Although the number of lifeguards has increased over the past 2 years, fatalities in the sea still occur. Early this month, a tragedy occurred after a number of tourists swimming at Dadonghai were pulled out to sea, and 2 of them drowned.
The Dadonghai authorities said 5 lifeguard stations have been set up at Dadonghai Beach, equipped with a lifeboat, LED displays, warning boards, loudspeakers and other necessary life-saving equipment.
Meanwhile, 18 eye-catching safety warning signs in 5 different languages have been placed on the beaches where accidents frequently happen and 4 lifeguards are on duty there to ensure tourists’ safety.
