Sanya will participate in the annual World Oceans Day campaign on June 8th, with a series of activities and information about ocean conservation.

As part of the efforts to protect the ocean’s system, a massive beach cleanup campaign will be held on the day at the major bays in Sanya, calling for the public to pay more attention to the ocean environment.

In recent years, the overdevelopment of the coastline and the swarming of tourists to Sanya has caused ocean pollution and disrupted the original ecosystem.

As the urgency for changes mounts, there are some non-governmental organization (NGOs) in the city that are actively involved in marine conservation efforts and promoting public awareness of environmental issues, such as the Blue Ocean Protection Association.

The Blue Ocean Protection Association is a Sanya-based NGO, So far, a great number of people have participated in ocean-conservation activities they have organized, particularly on holidays that see huge inflows of tourists to Sanya.
