Many car rental agencies in Sanya have seen a surge in business recently with lots of people reserving cars for the upcoming May Day holiday, which will run from May 1st to 3rd this year.
Self-driving travel is becoming a popular option among tourists who plan to tour around Hainan. Coastal areas such as Haikou, Sanya, and Qionghai have all seen demand rise sharply.
Meanwhile, the increasing demand has also resulted in higher prices. A local car rental manger revealed that many car rental companies have increased their prices for May Day bookings. “The daily rental fee for an economy car is around 200 yuan during normal times, while the price could rise to over 300 yuan during the May Day holiday,” the manager said.
According to the statistics from the Chinese New Year holiday, self-driven tours and self-guided tours in Hainan accounted for nearly 70% of the major travel forms.
