Sanya tourism revenue hits RMB11.43 billion in Q1 of 2015
In the first quarter of this year, Sanya saw a strong increase in tourism revenue, according to statistics released by the Sanya Tourism Development Commission.
Sanya saw a total of 4.17 million tourist arrivals in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 9.47%, and the tourism revenue reached 11.43 billion yuan, a 9.07% increase year on year.
The growth rate of individual tourists has exceeded that of group tour tourists, with most of them being individual travelers, including self-driving tourists and family groups.
Sanya has enjoyed rapid growth in its low-altitude helicopter sightseeing tourism in recent years. In the first three months, the sector has received 12,000 tourists, a 197% year-on-year increase.
Additionally, the Sanya Phoenix Island Cruise Terminal witnessed 15 cruise departures and arrivals, with the number of cruise passengers reaching 44,000, a year-on-year increase of 21.36%.
According to the Sanya Municipal Coast Defence and Port Office, the number of cruise ship departures and arrivals in Sanya is expected to reach 36 this year.
