2015 Sanya 2nd Dan Cultural Festival to open in Dadonghai Square June 20
Recently, in celebration of the traditional Dragon Boat Festival, the Sanya government announced that the 2nd Dan Cultural Festival will kick off in Dadonghai Square on June 20th.
The festival’s purpose is to promote the food and culture of the Dan People and will run through June 22nd.
This year the event will have 5 main themed activities, namely: the South China Sea Blessing Ceremony, Dan Cultural Forum, Dragon Boat Racing, Dan Cuisine Festival and Dan Cultural Evening Gala Show & Closing Ceremony.
The Dan People have lived around Sanya River and made their living by fishing for centuries. As a result, they have formed their own unique food culture, which has become an important part of Sanya’s culture.
1. The South China Sea Blessing Ceremony
The event will be kicked off at 9:00 am at Dadonghai Square, and hundreds of well-wishers, fishermen and tourists are expected to attend the ceremony.
2. Dan Cultural Forum
The event will be held from 3:30pm-5:00pm at a 5-star hotel on June 22nd, and tourism-related enterprises and authorities will exchange ideas on how to further promote the development of Dan Culture onto a wider stage.

3. Dragon Boat Racing
Dragon Boat Racing will be held on Sanya River from June 20th to 21st.

4. Dan Cuisine Festival
Traditional food of the Dan people will be available to taste at the Festival and will be held at Dadonghai Square from June 17th to 21st.
5. Dan Cultural Evening Gala Show & Closing Ceremony
The event will be held from 8:30pm-10:00pm at Dadonghai Square on June 22nd.
