According to the Sanya Urban Planning Bureau, the Sanya River is expected to be further developed to provide visitors with an exquisite leisure experience with a reasonable layout, excellent ecological surroundings and complete facilities. 
   
The river flows through central Sanya. According to the plan, the local government will give priority to the improvement of water quality and the overall river environment.
 
The discharge of waste water from various activities is the main source of pollution in Sanya River. In response to the worsening situation, a series of anti-sewage pollution measures have been launched to protect the marine ecosystem and improve the environment of Sanya River.
 
After its planning, the project will combine seven areas including the dynamic port area, urban waterfront leisure area, mangrove romantic scenery area and waterfront resort leisure area.
