The Sanya government has launched a variety of promotional campaigns to boost its overseas tourist markets, which has brought a rapid increase in the number of Russian tourists.
 
Sanya is striving to expand the Russian tourism market this year. A series of promotions which concentrate on healthcare tourism have been planned to further boost cooperation between Sanya and Russia, with the hope of making new breakthroughs in expanding the Russian tourism market.
 
In recent years, Russia has become one of the most important overseas tourist source markets. Since 2005, the Hainan government has opened chartered flights to 13 major Russian cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.
 
 
Word-of-mouth recommendations among Russian visitors, increasing regular flights and tourist charter travel have all contributed to the surging inflow this year.
 
“We are hoping that local travel agents, the hospitality industry, scenic spots, restaurants and healthcare fields can join hands to make greater efforts to expand the Russian market,” said Wang Feifei, Vice Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission.
 


Mrs. Wang also mentioned that hot springs, tropical rural tourism and ethnic culture tourism will be further developed to meet the diverse travel demands of Russian tourists.
