As one of the most popular destinations for holidaymakers in China, scenic spots across Sanya reported an increase in visitor numbers during the three-day Qingming Festival.

Major scenic spots in Sanya, including Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, Yalong Bay Tropical Rainforest Park and Daxiaodongtian Scenic Spot, were crowded with tourists.

The Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone had nearly 10,000 tourists during the first day of the holiday.

Travel agencies said tours aimed at families visiting scenic spots and neighboring cities were popular.

Wuzhishan Canyon Rafting and Yanoda Rainforest Zone were two of the favorites, and tours featuring folk culture themes, such as to the Binglanggu Valley in neighboring Baoting County, sold well, a local travel operator said.

Short-distance overseas trips to South Korea and Thailand were also popular.

According to Qunar.com, the top 10 most popular domestic tourist destinations during the Qingming Festival were Lijiang, Sanya, Guilin, Xiamen, Jiuzhaigou, Beijing, Fenghuang, Zhangjiajie, Huangshan and Wuyuan.
