The healthcare sector may be a new growth engine for the Sanya tourism industry, said an expert at the Sanya TCM Hospital.
 
Sanya has rich tourism resources. The TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) care services are attracting more people from around the world because of Sanya’s natural and green characteristics.

"Some of Hainan’s natural resources also serve as TCM therapy resources. We combine them, and it’s proved to be very promising," said the hospital’s president.

So far, a large part of the visitors are from Russia. The hospital said visitors from northern Europe are rising.

To meet domestic and overseas demand, Sanya is expediting the development of its health recovery and recreation tourism projects.
 
With a total investment of 169 million yuan, the 3rd phase project of Sanya TCM Hospital – Sanya International Friendship Traditional Chinese Medicine Convalescent Hospital – is expected to be put into use this year. The hospital includes a convalescent center, a training center and a health recovery center.
