Major tourist cities in Hainan such as Sanya and Haikou are being urged to design public toilet maps to help tourists and local residents find restrooms more easily.

Sanya now has more than 100 public toilets in its urban area. That is adequate, but the problem now is that most of them are located in out-of-the-way places and have no obvious signs noting their exact location.
The public toilet maps will be posted on a website for public use. It will also be placed on street signs.
Meanwhile, cities on the island are being required to take measures to encourage social institutions to open their restrooms to the public for free to solve residents and tourists’ inconvenience in finding public toilets.
