A Sanya delegation recently attended the Cruise Shipping Miami 2015, which was held at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Florida, USA from March 17-19.
 
Hainan Province is the biggest ocean province in China. Hainan is looking to play a major role in the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiatives.
 
Sanya has been eying opportunities to build itself into a major sea transport and tourism hub in the region and continues to boost its maritime sector.
 
The Sanya Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal (PIICT) phase two development program is underway, including four more berths for varying ship sizes of up to 225,000 tons.
 
This year, the event attracted nearly 900 exhibitors from both government and private sector companies and entities specializing in the cruise industry from 125 countries around the world.
