Sanya completes 74,282 acres of afforestation in 2011-2014
According to the Sanya Forestry Bureau, a total of 74,282 acres of forestry areas had been built across the city by the end of 2014, accounting for 138% of the goal set for the period, as a result of activities launched with the ‘Greening Island Project’ since 2011.
The target figure of ecological afforestation between 2011 and 2015, set by the Sanya government, is 53,700 acres.
In 2011-2014, a total of 74,282 acres of forestry areas had been built across the city, involving an investment of 9 billion yuan, including 4,156 acres in coastal shelter belts, 7,605 along rivers and reservoirs, 12,968 in passageways, 26,731 in villages, as well as 14,000 acres of urban forest and 8,000 acres of ecological economic forest.
The Sanya government is continuing to promote several green projects in urban and rural areas this year, including 25 forest parks and fruits and flower parks as well as 5 flowery industry bases.
