11th Sanya Dragon-Head-Raising Festival at Dongtian Park on March 21
The 2015 11th Sanya Dragon-Head-Raising (Long Tai Tou Festival) will be held at Dongtian Park on March 21st.
According to folk legend, the 2nd day of the second lunar month is the very day that the dragon king is said to ‘raise his head’ (or awaken) with the sound of rumbling thunder, a sign of the coming rains that will revitalize the earth. Around this time, the earth is bursting with life, grass and trees are beginning to sprout and farmers are getting ready to till the fields.
At Dongtian Park, this day will follow a series of activities, including the South China Sea Blessing Ceremony, China Traditional Cultural Photography Exhibition, the Dongtian Temple Fair and the Dongtian Lecture, which are bound to be a cultural feast for all.
