Recently, volunteers from the Blue Ribbon Ocean Conservation Association, the Sanya Communist Youth League and the Sanya Volunteer Association in Sanya participated in a massive cleaning of Sanya River to ensure a pure river for tourists and residents.
 
Over 25 volunteers took part in the activity and a total of 1 ton of floating trash, such as empty bottles and boxes, were collected along the river bank between the river estuary and Xinfeng Bridge.
 
The Sanya River Cleanup is an effort to remove trash from Sanya and raise awareness about keeping the river litter-free.
 
The volunteers also helped spread the environmental message among the public and called for more people to get involved in environmental activities.
