This month, qualified informers have been rewarded with a total of RMB 69,000 by the Sanya tourism authority for their active reports on the illegal acts affecting Sanya tourism across the city.

In 2014, the local government unveiled plans to encourage more civilians to report evidence of illegal acts affecting tourism across the city in a new drive of intensifying efforts to regulate the tourism market.

Since its implementation on January 1st, 2015, the Sanya tourism authority has received 13 tourist complaint cases so far and 6 of them have been successfully dealt with after essential evidence of misconduct lead to suspension and/or fines.

The circular encourages the public to report on inappropriate tourism-related activities that damage the interests of tourists, such as tour operators, commercial briberies, illegal business kickbacks, sales of fake jewelry, and illegal price hikes by calling the complaint hotline ‘12301’.

According to the reward scheme, if the informers are qualified for rewards, they will be rewarded ranging from 1,000 yuan to 50,000 yuan each.
