Sanya rakes in RMB 6.345 bln in tourism revenue during 7-day CNY holiday
Sanya has seen a continuous boom in its tourism industry during the 7-day Chinese New Year holiday this year, according to statistics revealed by the Sanya Holiday Management Office.
During the holiday period, Sanya received a total of 790,400 tourists from home and abroad, and raked in 6.345 billion yuan in tourism revenue. This marks a year-on-year increase of 11.73% and 16.12%, respectively.
This year, the city saw a boom in self-service travel during the holiday. Many tourists and holidaymakers booked air tickets and made hotel reservations over the Internet.
Middle and high-income tourists were the main holiday travelers in Sanya during the holiday. Tourists with a monthly salary of 8,000 yuan or above accounted for 74% of the total figure. 51% of tourists spend more than 4,000 yuan in Sanya during the holiday period.
With regards to the length of stay, 63% of the tourists stayed in Sanya for more than 4 days.
Scenic spots also saw an increase in individual tourists during the holiday. Among them, the individual tourists to Tianyahaijiao and Sanya Qianguqing Scenic Spot accounted for 80% and 90%, respectively.
