Renovation of Egret Park in Sanya will start this April, in order to better complete its mission of providing "sustainable leisure".

Egret Park, situated by the Lingchun River, has been one of the city’s primary locations for leisure activities among local residents and tourists since it was opened to the public in 2002. However, the park’s aging facilities and outdated management have rendered it unable able to meet locals’ needs.

The total area of the renovation project is about 26.7 acres. The project will involve ecological restoration, landscape and pavement improvements, and the construction of accompanying service facilities.

The park will be developed into a hub for leisure sightseeing and also serve as an ecological preservation area for mangrove wetlands.
