Sanya’s hostels offer alternatives to costly hotels during peak season
Sanya is always one of most popular domestic tourist destinations during the Spring Festival holiday as tourists flood into the tropical city for a winter escape. And how to chose a comfortable hotel with a reasonable price is a major priority for many tourists.
According to the local authorities, hostels are important complements to the shortage of hotel rooms during the peak tourism season, which can not only appeal to tourists on a lower budget but will also enable Sanya to cope better with the influx of tourists during the holidays.
There are more than 1,300 accommodation operators in Sanya so far, among which include 600 registered family hostels, according to the incomplete statistics.
Many tourists who want to spend a quality but not luxury holiday are opting for more affordable holiday accommodations.
Unlike many cities, the presence of family hostels in Sanya is closely related to vacation houses. Many house owners will decorate their extra houses as family hostels to attract tourists.
Currently the city’s hostels are mainly found in Dadonghai, Sanya Bay and other coastal areas. In the near future the focus will gradually move towards the towns. By 2020, the hostels in downtown Sanya will account for 30% of the total.
The tourism authority said as the number of individual tourists increases, a large portion of these kinds of rooms are being booked and occupied by individuals looking for characteristics of a family hostel room at a lower price.
