The World Series of Boxing of AIBA 2014-2015 and the Qualifiers for the 2016 Rio Olympics kicked off at the International Convention and Exhibition Center of Mangrove Tree Sanya Bay Resort World today.
 
As one of the world’s top-ranked boxing tournaments, the event brings together fighters from 16 countries and regions, including Mexico, Russia, Cuba, the United States, Italy, Poland, Great Britain, Algeria and Ukraine to compete in the following classes: 46-49kg, 49-52kg, 52-56kg, 56-60kg, 60-64kg, 64-69kg, 69-75kg, 75-81kg, 81-91kg and 91+plus kg.
 
Approved by the International Boxing Association (AIBA), the 3-month-long tournament will last until April 24th.
 
The boxing event is expected to further accelerate the development of the sport in China and the competitive strengths of Chinese boxers at international events will improve as more and more high-level boxing competitions are held in the country.
