Sanya hands out 800 free qualified scales to seafood and fruit stalls
To crack down on vendors ripping off tourists by shorting the weight of various products, the Sanya municipal government recently handed out the first batch of 800 qualified scales to seafood and tropical fruit stalls in Dadonghai, Youyi Road and other areas.
This is part of a number of measures taken by the local government to prevent price-cheating on the tourism market to create a good environment for tourists.
These qualified weighing machines have been specially designated and any dishonest changes made to the scales will disqualify the scale.
The measure will be widely promoted in all food markets across Sanya and the relevant authorities will launch regular inspections of the vendors.
