2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race fleet to arrive in Sanya on January 24
The organizing committee of 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race Sanya Stopover held a press conference on the morning of January 14th, 2015 at the Serenity Marina Sanya to announce preparation work for the stopover event.
According to the schedule, the 6 sailing teams will stay in Sanya from January 24th to February 8th.
During the event, the Sanya Government will organize a series of activities, including the opening and welcoming ceremony, prize-giving ceremony, practice sailing experience, in-port race, pro-am race, Volvo Ocean Race experience, gala dinner party, departure ceremony and a race village carnival.
During the conference, the Sanya Sports Department Director, Mr. Dong Yongquan, said that the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 was a success and this year’s event will continue to serve as a platform for Sanya to communicate to the world.
As preparations ramp up for Volvo Ocean Race Sanya Stopover, 111 volunteers are being recruited to help deliver the tropical paradise’s 14-day watersports, entertainment and cultural events.
The selected volunteers will be given a full pre-event training including a specialized Volvo Ocean Race mentor program.
